During White Cane Awareness Day: Two Vice-Presidents and Two Ministers to Fulfill Promise for PWD
Honoring the White Cane Awareness Day in a video conference with the representatives of All Iran NGOs and public associations for the blinds, Mohammad Shariatmadari, the Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare listened to the remarks and problems raised by the above representatives.

In a telephone conversation with Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, Shariatmadari made reference to the claims of the blind community.
During the above meeting, representatives of the organizations for the blind asked the Vice-president to pay special attention to financing budget for enforcing the law on protection for the people with disabilities in the next year as well as to ensure the credits for the PWD in the 7th national development plan and stop paying subsidies to the rich in favor of the Welfare Organization.
Also, the vice-president and the head of state administrative and recruitment organization in a phone conversation with the Minister of cooperatives, labour and social welfare promised to seriously follow up enforcing the law on allocation of employment quota to PWD that will be a 3% quota for this group of population.
Furthermore, the Minister of Education, in a phone conversation with the Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, promised to employ PWD in education system of the country. He said that this year, 28,000 individuals are to be employed in the Ministry of Education with 840 persons as admission capacity for the PWD.
Also, Mohammad Shariatmadari in another phone conversation with the Minister of Road and Urban Development raised the demand of the blind community for special attention to urban planning and the needs of PWD.
